An undergraduate student currently studying a Master’s in Education at the University of Derby to enable me to secure a future in a career where I feel fulfilled and valued. I was assessed as Outstanding for my third-year placement against the Teaching Standard’s where I completed all of the hours required to achieve QTS Status. I have recently finished my third year and I am progressing into my final year, where I will specialise in Subject La dership for Humanities along with conducting my Independent Study. I am passionate about providing children with education from all ethnic groups and geographical locations. I currently volunteer at The Online School teaching Key Stage One English lessons over Zoom for any child who has access to a computer enabling them to access high-quality education. I am enthusiastic about teaching children and supporting them to make the required progress expected for their age whilst adapting my teaching to meet individual learning needs.

I have completed three years of undergraduate study and begin my final year of an Integrated Master's in Mechanical Engineering. I have previously tutored a fellow student during our GCSEs. I have involved myself in STEM subjects as much as possible, attending the events and courses that interest me most. Queen Mary University hosted a three day Headstart course on Women in Engineering. Moreover, I have attended a five day course on Sustainable Power Engineering at Lancaster University. Most recently I have attended a networking day at the Royal Academy of Engineering, I was the recipient of the Valerie Hume Award from Kendrick School, which sponsored me for this event. I have also been a student member of the Institute of Mechanica r Engineers for nearly three years and enjoy the library of peer-reviewed papers they have available, my favourite being: The Effect of Gasoline Metallic Additives on Low Speed Pre-Ignition (Nomaura et al, 2018). Having joined the Kingston University Formula Student team I was tutored in CAD and introduced to FEA on Solid Works. Alongside my studies, I was awarded most committed to the Kingston University Women’s Rugby Club (KUWRC) by the committee. I went on to be voted as Treasurer for KUWRC, being responsible for incoming and outgoing funds of the accounts. As an active member of the committee, I was also one of the organisers of the annual charity fundraiser.

I’m a final year Mechanical Engineering student on track to finish my degree with 1st class honours. After my A-levels (including Maths and Physics), I worked for a full year in industry with 3T RPD and since have undertaken engineering internships every summer with Rolls-Royce and Arup. With my experience, in industry, education and STEM outreach I have developed strong communication skills and a passion to engage students in learning about Maths and English. In my spare time I really enjoy DIY and building things around my family home, I love hands on practical work such as building, sewing and carpentry. I’ve also played Rugby Union for the last 5 years, and enjoy watching Sheffield Tigers on the weekend when I’m at university.
